Emily Magner Hurley, a native of County Cork, is a coloratura soprano and a proud graduate of University College Cork, holding a masters degree in composition. She was trained by the world-renowned soprano, Majella Cullagh. She is a former composer in residence with the Cork International Choral Festival and was choral librarian and education officer with Sing Ireland. She recently released her second albumOrainn, which is an a cappella album of traditional Irish songs, reimagined. Each piece from this album and her debut album Airs & Graces are composed on a 1970’s Petrof baby grand piano, gifted to her by her husband, one which has, in the past, been played by renowned Irish artists such as John O’Conor and the late Charles Lynch.Orainn has garnered strong reviews internationally (see overleaf.) It is available across all streaming platforms and is also available in CD format from her website.
